This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Every day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.

Last Run. Really!

Sunday 31st May
After today, I have no time and certainly no capacity left! I did my last run of May today. 6km, and again a lovely run along the Fox River.

Second-to-last run?

Saturday 30th May
In what might be my penultimate run in May, I did an 8.2km loop on the “River Walk” in Oshkosh, WI, USA. I am here for my niece’s graduation from high school, and took advantage of the great weather and beautiful trails along the Fox River to expand my running horizons.

Running to Copper Cliff

Saturday 16th May
It has been a goal of mine to run from home to Copper Cliff, along the lovely Junction Creek Trail and into the shadow of the Super stack. Done! And it was a solid run. 6KM is definitely close to my max now, but it felt good the whole way

Keeping up the pace

Tuesday 12th May
When I travel for work, it’s easy to make time to run. I just make the commitment, step away from the work thing (e.g. over lunch break, or after the work day is over), get changed, and hit the sidewalk, the trail, the road.

Now that I am back from work travel, it’s actually harder to commit to running. There is always an interruption. There are chores around the house. There are meals to prepare. Where is the time for exercise?

So far, so good. I’ve managed to stick to the “every other day” routine. And, I’ve kept my distance up around 5-6km each time.

Getting back into regular running

Thursday 7th May
I used to be a very regular runner for almost a decade, but then I injured myself while running. Recovery was hard. But careful stretching and a variety of exercises have allowed me to get back to running. The Million Reasons Run has been a good motivator to start the process again. So far, there have been runs in Bell Park, Sudbury, up Mont Royale in Montreal, and along the Lachine Canal in Montreal. Here’s to more regular and responsible running!
