This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Every day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.

Introduction

Thursday 26th Mar
Our daughter Eloise was born on February 19, 2025 with a congenital heart defect. We were not aware of this prior to her birth & it was incredibly scary as first time parents. At just over 24 hours old we were discharged from St. Boniface Hospital and sent straight to HSC Children’s Hospital. This was incredibly emotional, especially being 24 hours post partum and having to go from one hospital to another with no idea what was going to happen. She was met by the most incredible staff at The Children’s Heart Centre where she had an echocardiogram. She was officially diagnosed with Pulmonary Valve Stenosis and has been monitored very closely ever since. In October of 2025 she went for a follow up where they decided that she needed to go to the BC Children’s Hospital to have a procedure to open up her pulmonary valve as the condition was causing significant strain on her heart. We were flown to Vancouver in early November and met with the surgeon and nurses who would be taking care of her. She had a successful balloon procedure and they were able to take her condition from severe to moderate. We cannot thank the HSC cardio team as well as the BC Children’s Hospital team for taking such great care of our daughter. She is now 13 months old and doing so well. She will be monitored by her cardiologist for the foreseeable future & could potentially need the procedure again as she grows. She is thriving and as parents it is so amazing to see as when we first started this journey we didn’t know what to expect or what her life was going to look like. We are so incredibly lucky and grateful to be taken care of by such amazing doctors and nurses. We can’t wait to give back to the hospitals that have such a special and important place in our hearts. 🩷
