My Reason Why💛
This one is really personal to me 💛I’m running the Million Reasons Run for SickKids, and I want to share why.
This is about my little brother, Jacob.
One day, he woke up from a nap screaming. At first, we thought it might pass, but every time we tried to set him down, he cried even harder. Something was clearly wrong.
At the hospital, they noticed his legs were covered in bruises. We tried to explain that bruising easily runs in our family, but it sounded unbelievable. They were concerned, asking questions, even considering the worst.
But we knew something wasn’t right.
They did tests, and eventually started looking into blood clotting disorders. At the time, we didn’t even realize that bruises were actually blood pooling under the skin.
His results came back abnormal.
After more testing and being sent to McMaster, we finally got answers. Jacob had a clotting disorder. They also found a soft tissue bleed in the bottom of his foot—something you couldn’t see, but something that was causing him so much pain.
He was only 18 months old.
After days of needles and tests, they had to give him his first dose of factor. His veins were so small that they had to use a vein in his foot.
It was heartbreaking, but it also changed everything.
We were introduced to a clinical trial—one that Jacob became patient 001 for in all of Ontario. That treatment is now on the market, and it’s helping so many other kids just like him.
SickKids Hospital has been so incredible through all of this. I used to go with him to his treatments, and everyone was so kind. They had toys for him to play with while we waited, and they gave us a big binder to help us understand everything that was happening. They didn’t just treat him—they supported all of us.
Because of places like SickKids, kids like Jacob get answers. They get treatment. They get a chance to grow up.
My goal is to raise $1500 and run 30km this month in support of SickKids.
If you’re able to donate, even a little, it would mean so much to me 💛
For Jacob—and for every family that needs a place like this.

Saturday 2nd May I’ve officially started my Million Reasons Run, and over the last 2 days I’ve run 7.27km and raised $172!I honestly can’t thank everyone enough who has donated or shared so far—it means more to me than you know.
I’m working toward 30km and $1500 this month in support of SickKids, so we’ve still got a ways to go, but this is such an amazing start.
Every donation, share, and bit of support makes a difference 🤍
This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!
Friday 1st MayEvery day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.
Show your support by donating now!
