This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Every day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.

My plan is to run at least 1km each day in May, around the Alberta Children’s Hospital Block. For those of you who know me - running is my least favourite thing to do, but raising funds for this hospital is ultra important to me.

So, just a tad behind…

Monday 18th May
Home from the ACH now. Last few days, I have been fighting of allergies or a cold or something. Hard to breathe thru my nose and if there is something I hate more than running, it is running while mouth breathing. Swallowed a bug last time - JK. Anyway, my knees are not happy. The impact of walking is felt more than it should. I may have to convert to biking or at least mixing it in. I would say 5km biking : 1km running for equal exertion. Will keep you posted. Thanks again for your contribution to my fundraising effort.

Yesterday….

Sunday 10th May
I added in a second km today, definitely more walk recoveries during that one though. That’s just shy of 2x around the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The only thing that kept me from stopping altogether was knowing my boy was inside feeling a discomfort that surpassed the one I was faced with at that moment.

Not feelin it. Walked.

Friday 8th May
Tired from a bad sleep in hospital; lots of errands needing doing; my mood reflects how my son is feeling today. He made me leave for at least a 1km walk. But that was it. No more to give today. Perhaps, I will make-up for any walking I do by adding extra 0.5km to my next few runs.

Still not a fan.

Thursday 7th May
7-days in and it isn’t any easier or any more fun. A necessary visit to home for fresh clothes and the boy’s gaming set-up, resulted in this 1km round trip to our local PharmaSave. Sleep in the hospital room last night was less than stellar with all the pumps beeping ever hour on the hour til 1am but at least he’s in the best possible place to get over this sepsis and back on treatment.

Walk; don’t run.

Thursday 7th May
Yesterday, I had to just walk. J was admitted to the ACH and I didn’t have my gear, nor the mental capacity to push thru one of my still least favourite activities.

I am so grateful for this hospital and the amazing people that work here. Thank you for your donations toward this home away from home for so many kids and their families.

Thank you Thank you

Monday 4th May
Holy cow! 3-runs in and we more than tripled my fundraising goal for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Thank you all, so much!

Recruiting for Conquer.TeamJaxson

Tuesday 7th Apr
Anyone interested in joining TeamJaxson and start your own fundraising platform?  There’s no “I” in Team….

No BIG ask

Monday 6th Apr
All I am looking for is donations that match $1 to each 1km day I am committed to running.

That’s like asking someone to forego 2-patio cocktails; or 4-lattes; or 1-skipthedishes delivery.

Spread the word; join me on any day in May for that 1km run.

Thank you to my donors
