I’m running for my baby girl—my strongest little hero.
I’m running for my baby girl—my strongest little hero.
From IVF… to NICU… to the happiest, spunkiest toddler we know—Kennedy’s story is the reason I run.
Two days after an emergency C-section, I was told I could go home. But I hadn’t even considered leaving the hospital without my baby. That moment shattered me. No first cuddles. No first night together. Just the aching silence of a car ride home without our daughter.
That night, I sobbed in a way I didn’t know was possible. And again the next night. And the one after that. Every morning, I returned to the NICU—scared, exhausted, but determined. I learned how to feed my baby through a tube. I learned how to hold her through wires and monitors. And I learned a kind of strength I didn’t know lived inside me.
The NICU teaches you a different kind of parenting—the kind where you're not in control, but you show up anyway. And we were lucky—our journey was just 14 days. Fourteen days that felt like forever. Fourteen days of fear, hope, love, and incredible care from the hospital staff who never let us feel alone.
Now, Kennedy is home. She’s thriving. And we’ll never forget the role the NICU played in getting her here.
This Thursday, May 15, the J.P. Bickell Foundation will be matching all donations as well at TD Canada trust!
Please help us support the Children’s Hospital and the families who are still living their NICU chapter.
Because no parent should have to walk that journey without hope—and without help.
