This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Having a child with a rare medical condition is hard. There isn’t a lot of information, research, or answers. You often get told:

“We aren’t sure”

“We’ll have to wait and see”

We’ll know more when ___”

“We aren’t very familiar with ____”

“We don’t know why”

It’s incredibly frustrating when you just want to know the answers and do everything you can for your child.

And so many parents and children face this same experience.

That’s why funding for research is so important. It is so we can find answers someday. We can understand these rare conditions better. We can develop better treatments and therapies. We can support the children and families going through these difficult times. Not only for my son, But for every child who utilizes services at children’s hospitals.

The Alberta Children’s Hospital is an amazing place. The specialists, surgeons, doctors, diagnostic staff, nurses, social workers, volunteers, maintenance staff, and everyone in between are so caring and kind to the children and families that spend time there. They really do their best to make every experience as positive as possible and help in anyway they can.

That’s why this May I’m participating in The Million Reasons Run. I will be participating by walking, as I will be bringing my 2 kids along for the journey. My goal is to walk 100km over the course of May to raise money and awareness for the important research at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

There’s a million reasons to participate this May. My reason is my amazing son. What’s yours?
