This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Every day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.

My Reason to Run

Thursday 2nd Apr
Hi I'm Natasha! And while there are a million reasons, this is my reason to run for SickKids. Growing up, SickKids played a major role in the life of my family.

Unfortunately both of my younger brothers passed away at 3 days and 15 days old respectively. They had inherited OTCD, a rare X-linked genetic disorder. And while it was a devastating experience that shaped me from a young age, I will truly never forget the kindness of all of our healthcare team at SickKids. From days spent knitting and chit-chatting with our care team about what I wanted to be when I grew up, to being included in the painful but important conversations, everyone we encountered were nothing but supportive and lovely. And so, being able to give back and remain part of the SickKids community has always been important to me.

Now, as I'm about to graduate from the University of Toronto with my HBSc in Genetics & Biotechnology, I can admit that our care team was right... I did go into healthcare afterall - I was truly convinced in grade 4 that I would grow up to be a famous singer, but they believed from the start that I would go down this path.

So this May, I look forward to dedicating the time to running and raising support for SickKids, and I hope that you will support me in this initiative because SickKids is truly making the world a better place, bridging the gap between current research and the families that need it.

Stay tuned for all the running updates to come! :)

Cheers!

Natasha
