This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Every day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.

Running Without Zombies

Sunday 3rd May
I used to joke that I would not run even in a zombie apocalyse; that I would sacrifice myself to save anyone else because I run for no one.
Turns out, I run for myself, sans zombies. I do like a challenge, and when my older brother (who is a trainer and has run a marathon and continues to run) said I could, run well, I guess I am stubborn enough to try. And (drum roll...)I loved it from the start.
Last fall my brother suggested I do a 10k or more. My reaction: Ew...with people? But because I like to challenge myself, I kept running and in 6 months went from 0 to 18km runs. Not bad for someone who didn't think she could outrun the brainless undead. This season I am gearing up to run a half marathon in October but thought I would set reachabale goals. A 10k in May (has a nice ring tonit, right!?) to start. Then I came across The Million Reasons Run where you can run solo, at your own pace, and collect donations for the hospital of your choice.  I like a challenge, sure, but I also like purpose. So here we are. This fundraiser will also let me chart my runs as I train for my 10k and half marathon, while giving to a great cause. I have never needed The Montreal Children's hospital. Neither have my children. For that, I am grateful, and gratitude is driving my purpose to raise money for a place that takes care of sick kids and their families. I know so many students and friends who have needed the Children's. So...zombie-free me is running ahead and chasing the goal. Thanks to those who have already donated!
