This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!
I am running for my son to raise money for The Alberta Children’s hospital. That hospital has helped us two different occasions.
The first when Dylan had Kawasaki disease Nov 6-14th 2020. We did a 3 night stay at the Alberta Children’s hospital (5 nights Medicine Hat Regional hospital). Kawasaki disease, is a rare illness that causes inflammation in arteries, veins, and capillaries. It's the most common cause of heart disease in children. He went through this at 2 months old, Luckily they caught it in time and treated with IVIG and low dose aspirin that it didn’t cause any damage, we had to see to see a cardiologist every so often for check ups at the Alberta children’s hospital after.
The second time was when he had surgery for Craniosynostosis at 6 months old. We had a 4 night stay at the Alberta children’s hospital. Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which the bones in a baby's skull join together too early(no soft spot) This happens before the baby's brain is fully formed. As the baby's brain grows, the skull can become misshapen and can cause pressure on the brain. His surgery date was on February 24th 2021
I am ever so grateful for everything that hospital did for my son, myself and my family when we were there. They saved him. He is now a 5 year old healthy little man. So of course I will run and raise money so other kids can get the care they need. ❤️
