This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!

Every day, over 5,000 children receive care at a children’s hospital in Canada and by supporting me, you’ll be helping fund life-saving research at your own local children’s hospital. Funds for research are needed now more than ever, and your support will allow researchers to uncover new cures and gentler treatments for kids.

Why?

Friday 13th Mar
Two years ago we were given news about Taryn, our youngest. What was supposed to be a check up with her paediatrician turned into months of uncertainty. She had multiple blood tests, ultrasounds and drs visit to the IWK. When they decided to go in for a biopsy on her thyroid. What they found they had never seen in a child her age, and they would have to rebiopsy her again in three months. They could not confirm or deny that it wasn’t cancer. When we received the phone call from her Dr at the IWK about what they had found she told us she was not going to stop investigating and that she would make sure we would get answers. Taryn’s pathology was sent to a number of children’s hospitals around Canada to figure out what it was. Three months after her original biopsy we received a call that Taryn does not have cancer but antibodies in her thyroid that are not typical for her age. The care received from the IWK was amazing from the first appointment with her dr, to the surgeon who performed her surgery, to the nursing staff that never left her side. We are so thankful that we have a hospital like this in the Atlantic coast.
I will be walking to raise funds for the IWK as they never stopped trying to get answers for our family.
