Bean Butt Does Year Three 🤙🏻

Emma (The Bean) Shinglejingleton was diagnosed in February of 2021 with KAND- KIF1A Associated Neurological Disorder. This rare neurodegenerative disease affects around 500 people worldwide, and Emma is one of two ever diagnosed with her specific type- making her one of the rarest kids in the world! At 6 years old, she already battles optic nerve atrophy, ataxia, epilepsy, cerebellar atrophy, and hypertonia. This devastating diagnosis has already robbed her of her sight, ability to walk, and speak. Despite all of these struggles, Emma remains the happiest bean- a kiddo who continues to live her life full of smiles and giggles in spite of the cards she has been dealt. She has an infectious positivity that has taught everyone around her the value of perseverance, joy, and relentless determination. Having the pleasure of holding Emma close to me remains one of my biggest treasures in life 🫶🏻

Emma’s family moved to Calgary to get her support, and she visits doctors and specialists at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. For the third year in a row, I’ll be running in support of Emma and all the other kids like her who have received life-saving treatment at ACH. The support of the staff, volunteers, and specialists at this wonderful hospital are changing the lives of kids just like Emma! And- to shake things up for year three- I’ll be running my FIRST MARATHON!! 2026 called for higher stakes, higher pledges, and a 150km goal!

LET’S DO THIS BEANY THE WEANIE!! 💪🏻
