This May, I'm taking on a 31 day running challenge in support of my local children's hospital!
I’m doing the Million Reasons Run for Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) because this place changed my life.
Five years ago, we brought in a beautiful 6 lb 10 oz baby boy diagnosed with a perimembranous ventricular septal defect. Since then, he’s been followed by an incredible team at CHEO, with checkups every 8 months, making sure his special heart stays strong.
Before every appointment, he gets a superhero too remind him that he has a special heart. A few years ago, he quietly told his mom, “I don’t want a special heart anymore.”
That moment broke ours.
CHEO has been there for our family every step of the way. Now I’m showing up for them — and for kids like my son.
